Frequently Asked Questions
Shipping

Ready to ship pieces reserve a 7-day time frame from when they are purchase to when they are shipped.

I will do my best to meet these shipping estimates but I cannot guarantee them. Actual delivery time will depend on shipping method chosen and shipping company.

Packages are shipped using USPS, you will receive tracking number upon shipment of your package.
Lost/Stolen/Damaged Package

I cannot be held responsible for any items that are lost or stolen while in transit. If you have any issues with package delivery you can file a damaged/missing package report to the shipping provider, they will try to locate your package or issue a refund for packages shipped with insurance coverage.
Incorrect Address
- In the event the address provided at checkout is incorrect, I am not responsible to refund or replace the item(s). If you are able to email me at bigislandgems808@gmail.com in a timely manner I may be able to change the shipping address before the package is sent out. I kindly remind you to double check shipping addresses before checking out. Mahalo!
Customs and Import Taxes

Buyer is responsible for any customs and import taxes that may apply. I am not responsible for delays due to customs
Gift Wrapping
- Each order is packaged in gift giving packaging.
Refunds

Refunds are at my discretion and have a 14-day timeframe. If you have a problem with your order please don’t hesitate to email me at bigislandgems808@gmail.com
- No refunds will be issued for incorrect size purchases, please check item details carefully before checking out. Contact me with any questions.
Additional
Do you do custom orders?
- Unfortunately, I cannot accommodate custom orders at this time due my ever changing schedule as a full time registered nurse.
Is the turquoise real?
- Yes, all of the turquoise I use is natural turquoise unless stated otherwise in item description.
What ring sizes do you make?
- I make anywhere from a size 4 to a size 9. Most of my rings will be within this size range but feel free to email me at bigislandgems808@gmail.com if you have a finger size that is out of this range.
Can a ring be resized to my size?
- Unfortunately, premade rings cannot be resized at this time, stay tuned for more rings possibly in your size!
What if I purchase the wrong size ring?

Please message me with any questions you have regarding ring sizes. I will do my best to help you find the perfect ring size! PS: in order to find your perfect ring size, decide what finger you would like to wear the ring on, measure your ring in a neutral temperature environment (fingers swell in heat and shrink in cold), make sure to take into account the size of your knuckle and follow our ring size guide to find the perfect ring size.
How are items prices?
- I aim to price all of my pieces fairly for both the customer and myself as the sole metal smith of Big Island Gems. Some things taken into consideration while pricing items are; metal type/weight, gemstone rarity/quality/aesthetics/size/weight (only if not backed), personal time put into working on the single item, materials used (polishing equipment, flux, solder ect…)
What does it mean if the stone is backed?
- When an item description states that the stone is ‘backed’ it means that there is compound on the bottom of the stone which aids in stabilizing softer stones and acts as a protection them impact between the stone and the metal it is set in, avoiding any unwanted breakage of softer stones.
